An Ode to the Olsen Style of 2007 !!!

Mary Kate “MK” Olsen

While some may refer to Mary Kate's style as being frumpy, somewhat bag lady or just plain out there- I see style well done; effortlessly so. I’ve never seen a girl who can pull on a baggy sweatshirt with almost any outfit and make it look cool. My wardrobe staples have always leaned towards hoodies and skinny jeans not unlike MK. Lately, chunky boots, platform sandals and wedges have joined the collection. If only I could wake up tomorrow and have Mary Kate’s extensive ring and handbag assortment. Now, if I could wake up tomorrow as anybody in the entire world, I’d definitely have to pick Mary Kate Olsen; or at least a chance to meet her. Not only does she have a smashing sense of style but also a stylish best friend, who we all know as her twin sister, Ashley.

Ashley “Ash” Olsen

Always refined, classic and pulled together. I look to Ashley for confidence in composure, intricately placed details and impeccable hairstyles. She is never one to shy away from mixing in new, eclectic pieces with her own classic staples. Not quite as avant-garde as say her sibling, MK, yet- she still manages to hold her own in the trendsetting department. I’m always fond of her coats, fitted pants and platform sandal concoctions! I would love to sit down and have a really good long, and fashion-filled, talk with Ashley over a cup of coffee, about what she likes best in this year’s collections, what she sees next and what she hopes to achieve with the future for her lines; The Row and Elizabeth & James.

4 Little Birds ...

Tallulah Morton is as much down-to-earth as she is eccentric (in a good way, of course!) Charismatic from her wild child hair right down to her colorful fingernails. Always casual, and yet, she makes it look so effortlessly chic. It's no wonder the Cobrasnake fawns all over her.

Knightcat, also known as Cat Khan, is a college student by day but a blog maven by night. Her blog, knightcat, is a driving force of inspiring photographs. She never lets us down, every single photo causes accelerated heart palpitations and joy. Who is Cat Khan? I'd love to find out.

Mary Kate Olsen inspires me to be free thinking, to love fashion for its role in being creative; being art. MK thrives in standing out from the crowd; and that's a good thing in my eyes. I would enjoy a day talking fashion, shopping for shoes and sipping lattes with this sage leader.

Ruby Aldridge to me, is "the Urban Outfitters girl" but she is also very much daring as she is beautiful. Ruby is just as gorgeous naturally as she is all made up. Just like her sister Lily, who manages to make wearing thick-framed black glasses a "do" instead of a "don't," Ruby has girls clamoring for her hot "du jour" stylish ideas; all over the continent.

All Hands on Deck: American Apparel and Chuck Taylor

As silly as I know it may sound, I can't help but to feel exhilarated when I spot a celebrity I admire wearing something that I also own. Like this AA raglan top for example, seen on Mary Kate Olsen- quite a few times, or the fact that Mary Kate and Nicole Richie both seem to like Converse sneakers as much as I do (I've been wearing them since the 6th grade!!) And how about the fact that they both chose to pair their all American Chuck Taylor lo top Converse with grey sweaters? Genius.

These photos were taken in the old house, but up until now, I had forgotten all about them. I do however wear my American Apparel raglan top all of the time. I'm debating on whether to order another, to sleep in? They're just that soft.

Top: American Apparel. Dress/Bag: Vintage. Sneakers: Converse by Chuck Taylor.
